GETTING WELL, TIMES TWO

Hi all, just checking in to let you know I am still here and getting better everyday. I am referring to the recent surgery and not just my ego! I failed to mention in my earlier post, Cheryl has fallen victim to the flu :(  and has had a tough time with it. She has been improving with medication (tami-flu). It has really been challenging around here with my being benched with one arm and her being down with the flu, but we are both getting well :)

One silver lining is that I have had plenty of time to think and ponder our future plans while being mobility impaired. I say it is a silver lining, however it could just be perplexing and dangerous! :)  I have been giving a lot of thought concerning the "fulltiming" lifestyle.  I have also been reading a lot of blog articles concerning the lifestyle and my attitude has changed a bit!  I think I am re-evaluating the importance of being deemed a "full timer" and thinking maybe we may just want to be deemed as "any time we wanna goers" LOL.  Now that classification needs a little work, doesn't quite sound as catchy as "full timer", but maybe it will catch on   ;) ....

The decision to sell or not sell the house may be a mute point. Since the market is whacked right now, we may be better off to set our sites on something less expensive for our rig and keep the house. We would be in the sticks and bricks from November until about February, then hit the road in late Feb to destinations to be determined. Once we are living this lifestyle, we can then determine if we want to sell the house or make any adjustments necessary. :) ...... Now these have been my random thoughts and could change with my next mood! Cheryl is like-minded and will be happy just to hit the road, no matter what we decide..lol

Well I have rambled enough for today. If anyone has any opinions on my rambling thoughts, please let me know. I need all the help I can get!  God bless us all.........  :)

We call them Snow Birds down here in Florida... They migrate south during the winter. You know you have to be comfortable with your choice... I think(from what I read) you should keep your home and try a winter or two and then make up your mind... We started with our house and a smaller rig and then when we decided we sold the house and bought a bigger diesel pusher... Some people just need a home to go back too... where we take our home on wheels back to our home area eaach winter.. The main thing is don't let it stress you!!!
Have fun, Get well & travel safe

Here's to life as "Anytimers", or whatever you choose to be. (I think "Anytimer" is pretty catchy!)

Hope you're both feeling better soon.

Been reading your blog for awhile now and I think we are on the same wavelength. My husband is unsure of not having a home to come back to and in 3 1/2 years we will be doing the same as you. Keeping our house for the first winter or two before making a decision. Good for you on having this blog to express opinions and receive comments. Might be something I should do.

Glad that your health is improving. In reading your post, the most important element I see is that your spouse is like-minded. We were blessed to enjoy a short stint (1 1/2 years as 'full-timers') but knew it was only a temporary situation. We wanted to seize the opportunity to share an adventure with our kids and enjoy it with relative good health and agility! We kept our house equity safely put away until we had completed our journey and reinvested in a home. I like the 'Anytimer' idea. We know that when we are empty nesters, we will pursue an 'anytime' travel with a very downscaled RV within our available means.

I struggle with that every day. All I really do know is our present house is too big and need too much maintenance. No matter what we decide the house has to be sold!

After 10 months on the road our first year out (2010)the wife and I compromised on 6 months May - Oct on the road and 6 months Nov - Apr in the sticks and bricks. The wife needs to be home for the holidays and the big family get together. So we are "Part Timers" only I like the idea of "Anytimers". We may do a couple of winters at Quartzite just to check out what all the hullablo is about. Hope to see you on the road someday.
